Yesterday was a glorious day for Winter (20oC) and far too good to spend indoors,
so on a spontaneous drive around the local hills with my trusty Nikon P510
on board, this stunning specimen caught my attention.
I've not been able to identify it yet, but believe it is an Australian native species.

It sure is an unusual one. Nice shot too.
So pretty! looks similar to the Asian fruit called rambutan.
Looks like a mini bottle brush (if there is such a thing!)or the flower of a red flowering gum! But I have a feeling that it is neither of these! But it's so striking and beautiful!
Whatever it is, it's gorgeous and very attractive!
