Australian Parrots

Still in Victoria, out of Geelong en route to the Great Ocean Road,
stopped off for a coffee break (as you do), and came across
these delightful King Parrots (males) and Crimson Rosella.
(sorry that images are blurry - taken through glass window
so as not to disturb them!)

Linking up with other bird lovers at
(thank you for hosting, Stewart)

Surfing Australia

A day trip out of Geelong led to Bells Beach, a renowned surf beach some 100kms south-west of Melbourne, on the Great Ocean Road near the town of Torquay.  Bells Beach is named after John Cavert Bell of the family that first took up a pastoral run there in the 1840s. (credit Wikipedia)

It was a blustery, grey day, but the avid surfers were having a glorious time.

Surprisingly, the sand on the shore was not the usual bright white colour one associates with Australian beaches.

Oops!  Maybe Surfing "Down Under" ??!

. . .  and this cute fellow caught my eye as I walked back up from the observation deck to the car park!

Barwon River

The beautiful Barwon River in Geelong, providing a peaceful environment for walkers, runners, kayakers and rowers. The riverside pathways are wonderfully shady too - much appreciated on hot days when walking the dog!

Joining in both Skywatch Friday
with grateful thanks to the hosts of both memes.
