Great Ocean Rd - Pt 2

Coming or Going?  These yachts were participating in a race around buoys out from Portland, Victoria

While this fellow was previously sitting in the middle of the road as we rounded a blind corner nearing Apollo Bay (our destination). After we stopped and alerted traffic coming from both directions, and several unsuccessful attempts to encourage it to relocate to safer ground, a following motorist took a coat from his car, grabbed the koala from behind and took it to the base of a tree, which it quickly climbed (but not before expressing displeasure at having been "rescued"!)

These crayfish (perhaps known as lobster in the USA) pots were stacked on the jetty of Apollo Bay marina

The definition of patience?? (waiting for THE wave)

Ahh - the unrelenting call of today's technology!

Pretty Gannets

I've missed catching up regularly with my blogging friends over the past twelve months, but am happy to be sharing with you again today.

With easing of cross-border travel restrictions, a good friend and I decided on a 9 day visit to Victoria's Great Ocean Road (from South Australia). Wishing to enjoy the journey, we arranged a couple of overnight stops, one of them being Portland just over the SA/Victorian border.  This was a deliberate choice because we wanted to visit the Gannet Colony at Point Danger - what a delightful experience!

The white tops on the island are all Gannets !!!

..... and so began a visually spectacular adventure!

Thank you for hosting this blog Stewart

Great Ocean Road - Pt 1

Wow! It's been 4 months since last I posted on my blog - I have missed catching up with you all and commenting on your fabulous collections.
Covid and crazy weather patterns around the world continue to have their impact in so many ways. Thankfully, technology enables us to maintain contact with distant family and friends. In the overall scheme of things, the inability to travel overseas is a small price to pay for the safety of everyone.
However, in the meantime am grateful to have been able to travel from my home State of South Australia over the border into neighbouring Victoria.  A good friend and I have just returned from a 9 day, 2111km adventure along that State's Great Ocean Road with its magnificent scenery. Following is a glimpse of what we were able to enjoy (including cooler & more comfortable weather!)

. . . apologies for the "overkill" with surf images, but it was a constantly mesmerizing scene over those 9 days and too lovely not to share!

Keep well and safe all.

Happy to once more be joining in Our world Tuesday
