In the Mangroves

Reflections in the waters of the St Kilda mangroves
(the golden browny bits are the roots beneath the water's surface)

A storm brewing

(Apologies for the previous "glitch" resulting in the non-upload of this picture!)
This was taken at around 7:15pm on the school oval where I exercise my dog (it's a great spot for capturing both sunrise and sunset!). I was struck by the contrasts in the sky - beautiful azure blue at one point and thunderously dark grey at another.

Tempting the taste buds !

Here are some of the delectable offerings available at Newman's Nursery's "Topiary Cafe" in Tea Tree Gully, one of Adelaide's northern suburbs.

The Topiary has a delightful ambience, with not only a delightful menu from which to choose, but also a wide variety of tasteful (no pun intended!) giftware for purchase.

Well worth a visit!

Warburton, Victoria

This shot was captured several years ago on a Leica compact (non-digital) camera. Sadly, the quality of the shot seems to have deteriorated in storage, but nevertheless I felt it was a picturesque scene worthy of posting - I hope you think so too!

Adelaide

... the fair city of Adelaide, capital of South Australia. Here are: one of our brightly coloured trams (which run from the City to Glenelg on the coast; looking north down the main street (King William) from Victoria Square in the City's centre; another "barky" shot; the tower of St Francis Xavier's Cathedral; and another "contrast of ages" shot, showing our General Post Office with it's tower backdropped by two of Australia's "Big 4" bank buildings and part of John Dowie's wonderful fountain in the foreground.

This is my submission to Our World Tuesday.

A Heavenly Perspective ?

Recently I promised more sky/cloud shots relating to my Tasmanian trip . . . .
This was taken leaving Adelaide

This, over Victoria

... and this was taken at Richmond in Tasmania.
Wishing you all an exciting week!

Continuing the country theme . .

Just doing a bit of experimentation here, converting the coloured original to antique with softened edges ...

and once again the artistic bark captures my interest!

Rural rambles . . .

On the road to Tarlee, north of Adelaide.

Couldn't help capturing some more images of the fascinating bark on these trees - on the right hand side, just below the piece folding forward, don't you think that looks like an eye - or is it just my over-active imagination ?!!
The long road heading north of the Barossa Valley. Generally speaking, our country roads are in good condition with stable surfaces (unless one ventures off onto the non-bitumen tracks) !

A contrast of the ages . . .

Morning delight

This was sunrise on 4 Feb 2012 as seen from my backyard. A few hours later I was winging my way to Hobart in Tasmania where we were treated - over the next 5 days - to some dramatic cloud formations. Perhaps more on those later.. !
Happy weekend to all
