This was taken outside my home one evening in mid-December last year. (Oh, how a telephoto lens would have been handy, to better show the moon sneaking into the viewfinder!) Still, guess I should be grateful to be able to see it with the naked eye.

Beautiful colors in your skywatch photo, and there comes the moon!!!
I recently upgraded to a camera that you can attach a telescopic lens to and I must admit, I really like it. The problem is you then want to get a "better" lens, then a "better" lens, etc. Have a terrific weekend, Valerie. Mickie :)
An unusual but worthwhile photo - such glorious colours!
Hi there - what great colours!
Are they the "southern lights" or is it just a good sky!

Mickie (Forgetmenot): Yes, there's clearly an art in learning to be content - am still working on it!
Stewart: Good question! Whichever it is, I certainly appreciated the display. Thanks for visiting.
Wow, those are amazing colors, gorgeous!
The colours in that sunset look amazing Valerie, the appearance of the moon an added bonus! I like it!
Beautiful, those colors are so vivid.
Like a picture!
nice colors.
Oh, what magical colours! Lovely.
That sky is gorgeous. Is this by any chance a photo of northern lights?
OIC that you live in Australia so this won't be the northern lights ;-) Very beautiful anyway.
