I took this shot outside my local library last December and, while I've probably looked at the photo countless times in the process of sourcing images to blog, it is only now - on a more leisurely and closer inspection - that I can see the different stages of these flowers blooming from their pod! In the centre there's a pod hanging down that is barely half open; at bottom right there's another bloom pushing its way out. The fiery hot orange colour is indicative of the Australian Summer's impact on me!!
(Many thanks, Michelle, for inviting my participation and observations of nature)

They are a beautiful colour. I don't think I've seen orange gum blossoms before.
What a stunning flower this is, the feathery blooms remind me of our Persian Acacia. Thankyou so much for becoming a follower of my photography blog. I am delighted to be returning the compliment and adding you to my blog roll.
next time I come to Australia, I will watch out for this.
They are certainly eye-popping!
this is beautiful--love the color.

Gum flowers come in all shapes and sizes but I haven't seen this colour before. Aren't they a great colour! The leaves have a healthy green look too.
different kind I am not familiar with.
Ooh - stunning - I've never seen this flower before, so thanks for sharing.
