Walking off the Christmas Day intake!!

It was a fabulous day yesterday (Boxing Day) here in Adelaide - temp about 24 degrees Centigrade and a refreshing zephyr of a breeze - so off for a walk with  a good friend and my dog Jessie along the Linear Park which follows the Torrens River from the Adelaide Hills down to the coast. I'm convinced we came back pounds lighter and 2" shorter!! but it was delightful.
(After examining this shot, I now understand why the best photos are taken in the morning or evening, not at the height of the sun - but thought I'd post it anyway!)

Thanks for sharing your Australian world. I have never been in South Australia. Only in Queensland where my daughter has lived now for sixteen years now. Adelaide must be a lot more like north Europe than Queensland.

Yes, the noon-day sunlight can be very harsh, Valerie, but I think you've done well here, notwithstanding!

What a lovely place to walk off the Christmas goodies. How long would that walk be along the Torrens from The Adelaide Hills? I would love to do it.
I enjoyed reading your profile, we have a lot of similarities. I also migrated as a child. My story is on my sidebar. Thanks for visiting again.

Reader Wil: Yes, Adelaide's climate has been described as being similar to that of the Mediterranean. We don't experience the Monsoons nor, generally speaking, that degree of humidity. Hope you get here some day - it's a pretty environment.

Nick: Many thanks for your encouraging comments!

Carolyn: Glad you enjoyed your visit to Adelaide. Thanks for visiting my blog.

dianeB: I do hope you get to make this walk. The Hills to City section is approx. 20kms and the City to Henley Beach leg almost 16kms. It's also a popular bike trail and one can hire bikes in the City. You'll find more comprehensive details on Google.
(Interesting that we should have similar beginnings in life). Thanks for visiting. Happy New Year!

I so love walking beautiful areas like this! Always so refreshing! When I was in Adelaide, I mainly stayed near the River Torrens and then joined others at Christie's Beach where I remember a brilliant bakery! Great for breakfast!

Its quite a long walk if you made it to the sea and back, small wonder the pounds dropped off like beads of perspiration. I'll grant you it is a really nice walk alternating bushland with the beautiful parkscapes along the Torrens in the city.

It is a beautiful area for walking and your weather looks delightful. Walking off the extra calories is something I need to do. I hope you had a great Christmas and I wish you all the best in 2012. Happy New Year!

To all - My apologies if the text in my post suggested we'd actually walked the WHOLE distance; far from it! Our return distance was more like 5.6 km. Hope you're having a great week!
