Adventures in Canada

Arrived home (Adelaide, South Australia) a few days ago, after another wonderful adventure on Vancouver Island, British Columbia in Canada - this time for an amazing 3 months.
Since it wasn't easy for me to post photos to my blog site, thought I would begin playing "catch up" now.
It was Summer when I arrived in Comox - 26C

Sunset from Goose Spit a narrow waterfront park at one end of Comox Harbour

 Comox Lake and Glacier

Entrance to nearby Lazo Marsh woods

One of several trails through the woods

 Another section of the trail

I continue to be fascinated by the erectness and height of the trees!

 Signage at the entrance

A pair of Bald Eagles adjacent to Lazo Beach

A pretty growth of Poppies on a property fronting the beach

I anticipate resuming regular blog posts again, so you too (hopefully) can share in the delights of Vancouver Island, BC

With appreciation to the faithful team who keep
up and running !

Shadows & more

Back to the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria (Australia) -
came across this converted chapel during my travels.

and a few metres further along that road was this stunning Hydrangea bush

..... while on the power lines overhead this Laughing Kookaburra swung by
(it was clearly the place for me to be!)

. . . and further along the road, near Sherbrooke, multitudes of
Sulphur-crested Cockatoos gathered

(if you live in Australia, you'll no doubt be seeking out the shadows
as our temperatures soar into the high 30Cs and 40Cs -
keep cool and hydrated!)

Paracombe outing

Thought it was about time I got back to posting on my blog - the stuff of life has distracted me recently!  (but I don't feel too guilty as I see others have had similar experiences) ..

Had a couple of photo-shoot outings this week through Paracombe (in the Adelaide foothills of the Mt Lofty Ranges)

Pear orchards . . . .

Growth on the edge of the road

Looking across the valley to Mt Lofty

a marvellous lagoon en route

Broom bush (I think!)

... and this beautiful blossom was on a tree at the edge of the pear orchard and I have no idea at all what it might be !

I look forward to playing "catch up" with my fellow bloggers' posts.
Whatever part of the world you live in, I pray that you will be safe and continue to share the beauty of your region with us all.

Filberg Park

Within Comox British Columbia lies Filberg Park, comprising nine acres of landscaped waterfront green space, gardens and heritage buildings. It features 130 varieties of trees, seasonal gardens, and hundreds of rhododendrons. At the heart of the site is the 1930’s heritage lodge, the former home of local pioneers Robert and Florence Filberg.

It was quite a warm day when I came upon it and decided to explore further ....

(perhaps just as well for my waist-line!)

The park is used by the community for weddings, picnics, music events etc. and I can see why - it is a delightful area for gatherings.
