Shadows & more

Back to the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria (Australia) -
came across this converted chapel during my travels.

and a few metres further along that road was this stunning Hydrangea bush

..... while on the power lines overhead this Laughing Kookaburra swung by
(it was clearly the place for me to be!)

. . . and further along the road, near Sherbrooke, multitudes of
Sulphur-crested Cockatoos gathered

(if you live in Australia, you'll no doubt be seeking out the shadows
as our temperatures soar into the high 30Cs and 40Cs -
keep cool and hydrated!)

Three in One

Although I've lived in (and appreciated) Australia for the majority of my life, there remains in my heart a strong yearning for the country of my birth - the United Kingdom.
I've been greatly blessed to have enjoyed several trips back there in my adult life (including 2 years living in Oxford), so today's post revisits a minute snippet of those experiences (and cheekily  contributes to three separate themed blogsites - hence the title).

Yesteryear

Continuing my country theme of the past week, below is my contribution to
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 - taken in Mintaro
(with thanks to the meme's hosts)

This charming old building clearly shows the town's slate used in its construction, and below is the plaque identifying its original purpose.

Wishing all fellow bloggers a special and safe Sunday.

Dreaming big !

While showing friends from England around South Australia recently, we spotted this Little Pied Cormorant drying its wings on the jetty at Port Elliot.

Wrecks among beauty

What started out as a chilly Autumn morning, developed into a
warm and glorious day.
In contrast, today the (welcome) rain seems to be settling in for the duration.

These sad, abandoned vehicles on a property were in such contrast to the nearby beauty and I wondered what stories they could tell of past travels.

Then I was curious about their makes - could this be a Morris 1100?

Perhaps this is a Wolseley or an Austin (can't quite make out the badge)

Happy weekend to all wherever you are.

Spring is here!

Yesterday was our first day of Spring - and it was superb; gorgeous blue and cloudless skies accompanied by pleasantly warm temperatures. Although Brighton jetty here (looking back toward the Arch of Remembrance) seems deserted, on shore we were hard-pressed to find a car park and seating at outdoor cafes as couples, families and singles enjoyed the relief from cold, wet, blustery days. Dogs galore had also been brought out by their owners to appreciate the day!
August was apparently our wettest in 7 years and coldest in a decade, so you may understand our celebratory joy!
