C to C

"C to C" = Comox to Courtenay on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada

The following images were captured from the vehicular & pedestrian bridge I crossed several times a week as I headed off on another adventure exploring the island.
As can be seen, it was Fall and I never tired of the colours that greeted me each day.

Well time to sign off for 2016 - what a year of extraordinary experiences!
Have been greatly blessed with exciting travel opportunities, resulting in the forging of new friendships and greater appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.

To cap off the year's adventures, am just about to head off for a 3-hour
kayak outing around Garden Island in the Port River (South Australia) with a good photography friend - stay tuned!!

Wishing my fellow bloggers a very happy, safe and healthy 2017.

With grateful thanks to James for hosting Weekend Reflection

Late one afternoon I spotted these energetic & athletic types "doing their thing"

Pavilion Lake

One amazing sight encountered on the trip through part of mainland British Columbia
was Pavilion Lake - it was GREEN!

Pavilion Lake is a lake in Marble Canyon, British Columbia, Canada. It is located between the towns of Lillooet and Cache Creek and lies along BC Highway 99, five and a half highway miles from Pavilion, British Columbia. (Wikipedia)

Floating leaves

After an exhilarating (and first ever) 2 hour kayak outing (solo),
I spotted these leaves floating on the water above the boat ramp and simply enjoyed the splash of colour!

Mainland B.C.

Although born in the UK, Australia has been home for most of my life - where Christmas falls in our mid-Summer and it is common for families to celebrate the occasion with cold meats, prawns and salads around BBQs or on the beach - there remains within me a deep-seated longing for snow at Christmas time.
Therefore I've chosen to post snowy scenes this week - these were
taken on mainland British Columbia in October.

(I couldn't decide which of these two shots to post, so you get both!)

Wherever you may be, I sincerely wish you a truly wonderful and meaningful Christmas
in the company of those you hold dear and hoping you stay safe on the roads.

Again, thank you all for taking time to visit and comment on my blog posts,
but more especially for the sheer pleasure your photography brings to my days.

Do visit Skywatch Friday for more sky shots.

Paradise found

Sproat Lake - situated in the centre of Vancouver Island.
I am not ashamed to admit that when I came across this piece of Paradise, tears sprung to my eyes at the sheer beauty of the scene.

Unfortunately the zoom lens on my camera was playing up, so the images are not as sharp as I would have liked, but hopefully you will still get a feel for the area.
(the camera is currently being repaired - just in time for my return to the island during February and March, 2017, when it will surely get a good "workout" !)

Thank you for the joy your photography brings to my life - keep on blogging!

Dusk

Dusk at Goose Spit in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island -
what a wonderful location to walk along and let the day's cares simply wash over one.
(Mind you - as a very thankful visitor to this piece of heaven, I had no cares, so instead just marvelled at the creation surrounding me!!)

Thank you Gemma, for hosting Monday Mellow Yellows

Day's End

Escaping the day's heat at a local beach in time to catch the sun setting

The ever-changing sky painted an extraordinary canvas of swirling colours

Hordes of people were similarly cooling off - families having picnics on the lawns, others strolling at the water's edge, still more playing beach volleyball and some
just walking the dog

Although the wide variety of amazing treats inside this establishment were very tempting,
a delicately flavoured ice-cream did the trick!

. . . while on the other side of the sky, the melon-shaped moon was making
its presence evident

and a week or two ago I spotted this from my garden  (is it any wonder I continue to have the "travel bug" !?)

With continuing thanks to the respective hosts, I am joining the throngs contributing to

Comox Harbour

Comox Harbour from the balcony of the Blue Fin Pub, enjoying a meal

Sunrise in B.C.

Sunrise in Trincomali Channel, taken from the ferry running between Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island and Tsawwassen on mainland British Columbia

while in another part of the sky, the moon was clearly reluctant to leave !

Thankfully we didn't need to use this craft !

Filberg Park

Within Comox British Columbia lies Filberg Park, comprising nine acres of landscaped waterfront green space, gardens and heritage buildings. It features 130 varieties of trees, seasonal gardens, and hundreds of rhododendrons. At the heart of the site is the 1930’s heritage lodge, the former home of local pioneers Robert and Florence Filberg.

It was quite a warm day when I came upon it and decided to explore further ....

(perhaps just as well for my waist-line!)

The park is used by the community for weddings, picnics, music events etc. and I can see why - it is a delightful area for gatherings.
