Another stunning day

Yet another stunning day in Adelaide, South Australia yesterday, so made a visit to Gorge Wildlife Park in the Adelaide Hills, just a short 20 minute drive away. Following are just some of the creatures seen . . . .

Sulphur-crested Cockatoo

Peek-a-boo!

Spoonbill

... a bad hair day??!

(I prefer seeing & hearing the Kookaburras au naturale !)

... and no Wildlife Park visit is complete without the captivating Meerkats!

Across island journey

Soon after arriving on Vancouver Island in late November 2019, I was thankful to be able to make a boat trip I'd attempted to make on 3 previous occasions (but which were all cancelled for a variety of reasons beyond my control).  That was the boat trip from Port Alberni across to Bamfield on the west coast aboard the "Frances Barkley" - a vessel that takes passengers and cargo to various communities en route.

It was a stunning day - blue skies, sunshine and no wind !  The vessel departed at 7:30am and returned around 4:30pm after an hour's stop in Bamfield.

Above - the view when leaving Port Alberni

. . . . there was a surprising number of waterside properties

These guys were bringing their pontoon/raft out to collect provisions

This Bamfield resident (and canine friend) went past a couple of times during that 1 hour stopover, once bringing back a friend (human this time!)

Just in time to be too late - to see the whale!

A very different version of a "transportable home" :-)

This former ferry (based in Port Alberni) has been converted into a B&B - how cool is that?

A local Post Office

En route with Swans on the wing

It was a wonderful day's outing (only 7 passengers outbound and just me and the crew coming back!).  Another memorable excursion.

Home from Home

Ahh, happy memories of 5 months ago on captivating Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada (my home away from home!)

One of many delightful and peaceful walking trails

Spotted these two squirrels (keeping social distance before that became the norm!) in nearby Qualicum Beach

Surf meets snow !

Thank you Alan for continuing to manage this community blog

Although South Australia is faring well with no new cases of CV19 for some 3 weeks, and there is a gradual relaxation of some restrictions, we are still being encouraged to practise social distancing and good hygiene.  Complacency is our enemy.  Praying for good health and safety for my fellow bloggers around the world.  (Am very grateful for today's technology enabling us to keep "in touch".)

More wildlife!

Well it was another delightful surprise encounter with an Australian native icon - the koala - last week while out walking in suburban Wynn Vale.  This one appeared to be fairly young and was by far the most active and alert koala I've seen in a long while ...  made my day!
