Kaleidoscopic clouds

The following images were all taken on the same day last weekend - the first two were at sundown and the last mid-afternoon.

Heralding heatwave

These images were taken this morning while walking Jessie - we are in for several days of temperatures 40 degrees C, so it was quite pleasant before 7am to let the girl have a good run ahead of the day's extremes

Do visit Skywatch Friday (kindly hosted by Yogi, Sylvia and Sandy)
to see more sky scenes from around the world.

Not forgotten

These wonderful works of art grace the foreshore of Victoria Harbour on Vancouver Island, British Columbia and I think are a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by servicemen and women around the world.

. . . and here is the famed Empress Hotel overlooking the Harbour.

For those of you who celebrate the tradition of Shrove Tuesday, I hope you get to sample some mouth-wateringly delicious pancakes today!

Fleurieu coast

This collage shows scenes from the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia
(which happens to be my favourite region of our State)

The top 3 shots and the larger one are of the Petrel Cove area, while the two right hand coastal scenes are of Waitpinga Beach - a popular fishing spot
(being images I've posted previously independently)

The memorial plaque reads:

"In memory of Harry and David Sheridan of Hindmarsh Tiers who were tragically killed when their Tiger Moth aircraft VH-AML crashed into cliffs approximately 10 kms west of here near Newland Head, while searching for a man presumed missing on
 Saturday 13 July 1957.
Also in recognition of the courage and determination of their families left behind and the generous support given to them by the residents of the surrounding districts during the years that followed.

Erected by the City of Victor Harbour and unveiled by the Hon. Dean Brown MP on Saturday 13 July, 2002 "

A halo

Observed while walking Jessie on a local oval recently
(and snapped with my Samsung Galaxy smartphone).

Happy weekend to all

Superb Fairy Wren

(CORRECTION:  This is a Superb Fairy Wren, not a Blue Wren, as described in my initial post - apologies; thought it best to get my facts straight! )

While out walking Jessie around the Linear Path at Valley View in Adelaide's northern suburbs, I was delighted this beautiful Blue Wren stayed still long enough for me to raise the camera (a Nikon P510), zoom in (42x), focus and shoot.

Once again linking up, with grateful thanks, to
