A floral feast

Just a small section of Keukenhof Gardens (the world's second-largest flower garden), situated in Lisse, Netherlands.
(I stopped over in Amsterdam en route to the UK last year, to meet the hosts of an exchange property  - located in Italy - that I would be staying in as part of my 8-week adventure. The generous hostess, Lia, gave me a wonderful tour - 45 years have passed since I was last in the Netherlands, so  it was a refreshing experience!)

Oops - I got a bit carried away, but hope you won't mind!!

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend, wherever you may be.

Keukenhof Gardens

En route to the UK in April, I stopped off in Amsterdam to meet and spend time with the exchange hosts of a holiday property in rural central Italy where I would spend 10 days to complete my UK-European adventure, some 7 weeks down the track.
(Yes, I am very aware - and grateful for - the marvellous travel opportunities that have blessed my life, and particularly those that began 2014)

My generous hostess, Lia, took me to visit the Keukenhof Gardens, which were an amazing blaze of colour.  The shot above was taken in the Gardens as we neared the exit.

Dutch delights

My overseas travels earlier this year took me to Holland for a 3 day visit where I met the generous hosts of a house exchange in Italy that would complete my European travels 8 weeks down the track.

As it was 45 years since I last spent time in Holland, it was a delight to see it again through more mature eyes!
(I still find the windmills a pleasing sight)

. . . and the numerous pretty canals

with a nesting swan

and, of course, the many bridges over canals throughout Amsterdam.

A puzzling plant

This plant was among many blooms to be found in the Keukenhof Gardens during early April.
I have no idea of its name and would be grateful if someone could identify it for me.
Nevertheless, it seems to fit in with the Mandarin Orange Monday theme (Thanks for hosting, Lorik)
and Today's Flowers (Thank you, Denise for hosting)

Hoping you've all had a wonderful weekend.

Remembering Kuekenhof

These reflected daffodils caught my eye in the Kuekenhof Gardens, in the Netherlands at the beginning of my travels in April.
The gardens cover approximately 32 hectares and in Spring provide a magnificent display of seven million tulips, daffodils and hyacinths.
It was a feast for the eyes (and camera lens!)
Happy weekend to all - and thanks, James, for your dedication in hosting this site.
