Warragul flowers

The house & cat I cared for in Warragul, Gippsland recently, was in a semi-rural location on a large block of land.  Upon the property were orange, lemon & mandarin trees, as well as an abundance of floral species, including the following:

Correa

Narcissus

(.. and some "ring ins" - King Parrots were daily visitors, to my delight)

Red hot pokers

One of many glorious sunrise experiences viewed across the adjacent property

Eastern Rosellas also were daily "drop ins"

Violets

(don't know this one)

It wasn't til I zoomed in on this Starling that I realised the many colours in its plumage!

.... and a stunning Eastern Spinebill regularly visited the Grevilleas around the garden.

Wattle

There were many more flowers on the property, but I'll have to save more images for another time.

A Pleasant Walk

A spur of the moment decision to take a walk in a quiet setting with my camera and keen photographer friend, resulted in the following experiences . . . .
(sadly, the pics loaded in reverse order and I've not the patience to correct that!)

Colourful bracts of a Bougainvillea

A local property displaying the beginnings of Autumn's colour changes

the outing begins!

A busy bee!

This tree fascinated us with its seemingly "painted" bark effect

. . . and another busy bee in action

Was fortunate to catch this Eastern Spinebill before it flew off again !

With grateful thanks to the hosts of the following blog sites which enable us to share our images and to explore other parts of the world
- if only visually at this time!

Gippsland Floral treats

Hardenbergia - also known as "The Happy Wanderer"

Sorry I don't know the botanical name for this one, but it is commonly known as
"Red Hot Poker"

and here is a group of them in late afternoon sun

and finally, what I know as a Tree Dahlia (but happy to be corrected on this and all of the above!)

Treats from Willunga

A delightful day's outing to Willunga in South Australia today, delivered the opportunity to capture these bold coloured tulips in a local garden

. . . and just down the street this (I think) Japonica was begging to be appreciated

Then came the original purpose for our trip - almond blossom

and the flowering gum didn't escape my attention either!

Hollyhocks

These colourful Hollyhocks provided a charming welcome to our next stop in Mintaro
- for a scrumptious lunch of Pumpkin Soup with Chorizo!

Pretty bloom

This pretty bloom I spotted during a walk through Morialta Conservation Park.
Not being a gardener (although appreciating flora), I am unable to identify it,
although its stem and tendrils suggest a possible wild Sweet Pea?
Nick, I'm sure you can come to my rescue!!

Pink Hibiscus

In the course of walking around my village recently, the lighting on this Hibiscus caught my eye.
There is an abundance of this flower amongst the homes, in a wide variety of colours, but I really like the soft pastel tones of this one.

From a critical photographic perspective, I acknowledge that the sun's glare on the right hand side of the shot below is too harsh, but nevertheless felt the play of shadow and central display of the bloom was interesting.

Hope you've all had a good week and, once again, my thanks to the wonderful
hosts of the various themed blog sites.

A floral feast

Just a small section of Keukenhof Gardens (the world's second-largest flower garden), situated in Lisse, Netherlands.
(I stopped over in Amsterdam en route to the UK last year, to meet the hosts of an exchange property  - located in Italy - that I would be staying in as part of my 8-week adventure. The generous hostess, Lia, gave me a wonderful tour - 45 years have passed since I was last in the Netherlands, so  it was a refreshing experience!)

Oops - I got a bit carried away, but hope you won't mind!!

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend, wherever you may be.
