Fleurieu coast

This collage shows scenes from the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia
(which happens to be my favourite region of our State)

The top 3 shots and the larger one are of the Petrel Cove area, while the two right hand coastal scenes are of Waitpinga Beach - a popular fishing spot
(being images I've posted previously independently)

The memorial plaque reads:

"In memory of Harry and David Sheridan of Hindmarsh Tiers who were tragically killed when their Tiger Moth aircraft VH-AML crashed into cliffs approximately 10 kms west of here near Newland Head, while searching for a man presumed missing on
 Saturday 13 July 1957.
Also in recognition of the courage and determination of their families left behind and the generous support given to them by the residents of the surrounding districts during the years that followed.

Erected by the City of Victor Harbour and unveiled by the Hon. Dean Brown MP on Saturday 13 July, 2002 "

Braving the elements

This was taken back in June, at the beginning of our Winter
("down under") and both surfing and beach fishing are popular at Waitpinga on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula.
It was a sunny but blustery day with temperatures in the low 'teens (and that was on land - I wouldn't want to have been standing in that chilling water for long, but these fellows were obviously hoping to catch the big one, possibly salmon trout)

Afternoon delight

Returning from a day's outing to Strathalbyn with a good friend
we were delighted to come across this section of the Angus River on our way to Macclesfield.

The sky was blue, the sun shining, river running, birds singing in the trees
and the rich green pastures showing evidence of recent good rains. What a great start to the week!

Exhilarating Port Elliot . . and more !

Definitely my favourite part of South Australia is the Fleurieu Peninsula, south of Adelaide.  Above is the breathtaking bay at Port Elliot, which is popular with both surfers and fishermen.

If you're looking for a totally refreshing break from the hassles and busyness of life, you need look no further - about 1+1/4 hrs' drive from the city, on your way to the seashore you'll travel through such calming surroundings as those above and below; lush green vegetation, deep ravines, magnificent gum trees and, if you listen carefully, you're likely to hear the enchanting "conversation" of Kookaburras!

Second Valley views

These shots were taken at Second Valley on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. It's a great spot for fishing, swimming or just clambering over rocks and admiring the views.
