Port Isaac

Port Isaac is a small and picturesque fishing village on the Atlantic Coast of North Cornwall, United Kingdom and is also the setting for a popular English TV series "Doc Martin" starring Martin Clunes. (The village name is referred to in the show as "Port Wenn") The narrowness of the steep lane leading down to the harbour, especially during busy times, ensures drivers are extremely alert. A careful watch on the tide is also essential when parking on the sand!  Our visit here was another highlight, the only disappointment being that we'd missed seeing filming of the next series by one day!

Wow you have actually been there where they film Doc Martin. I always wondered which town it played in. Now I know. Thanks. What a shame you missed the filming.

One of the best things about that show is the amazing scenery and impossible roads through and around the village!!

Luckily, we have SO much better roads here in OZ!! (yes, that's a bit of a joke!!)

It looks lovely! It looks warmer than I would have imagined but then perhaps you snapped these in summer months.

Joyful: Yes, we were visiting in May-June, and during our 6 week holiday only experienced rain twice! What a blessing.

To all: Thanks for visiting my blog and making time to comment.

I cannot belief I just looked at the area where “Doc Martin” is filmed. It is my favorite show and have watched all the episodes which are on Netflix. Cannot wait to see new ones. It is such a gorgeous spot, and your captures are wonderful. Thanks for a very appreciated post. I will picture your photos in my mind as I am watching the shows. genie

Jessica: thanks for visiting and joining my site. I tried to reciprocate, but couldn't gain access - any suggestions?

NaturesFootstep: I can heartily recommend a visit to Cornwall - both south and north coasts have much to offer photographers. In the south I can especially recommend visits to Looe, Polperro, Lostwithiel and Fowey. Hope you make it and look forward to your posts if you do.

Genie: Thanks for visiting, I'm glad you enjoyed these "appetisers"
- due to the keen interest in Doc Martin, I shall post some more photos of the area in coming days.
