What a poser!

A change of routine provided the opportunity for a walk around Mawson Lakes
on a lovely warmish (15oC) Winter afternoon.
This gorgeous New Holland Honeyeater obligingly sat still for me for quite some time, perched on a garden railing.

Emerging . .

During a recent visit to Adelaide's Botanic Gardens, I was fascinated to see these fluffy "blooms" emerging from their casing in the trees above our heads. (apologies to those of you who are interested in more botanic details!)

Gerberas

These Gerberas are in my friend's garden - she is disappointed they turned out not to be the broader-petalled variety, but I think they have a "starburst" quality to them and are pretty in their own right.  In my crazy imagination they suggest "Surprise!"

Honey coloured centre

The honey-colour centre of this rose in a friend's garden really appealed to me.
.... and then I spotted this pretty Flag/Iris (?) with its apparently "spray-painted" edges!

Moreton Bay Fig

Here is a close-up of the figs forming on the Moreton Bay fig tree, which is common throughout the eastern states of Australia. This tree was one of many in the town of Mintaro (referred to in posts of last week) and behind the tree you can see the wall built from local slate.
Perhaps the most notable feature of the Moreton Bays are the extraordinary aboveground roots

Spider with a taste for gold!

In case you missed him in my earlier "Two on One" post, here's an enlargement of the daisy with spider (the insect didn't come out as well when enlarged, so this is now "1-on-1")
(I'd be grateful if someone could explain to me how to active the "click to enlarge" option seen on some blogs)

Two on one

It wasn't until I had uploaded this image and was looking at it more critically, that I spotted the pale tiny spider and the little black bug on the leaves of this daisy - what a bonus!  (In case you hadn't guessed, I am having SO much fun with my new Nikon P510 !)

with grateful thanks to the hosts of each site.
