Boating

I never tired of walking around Comox Marina - a constant source of
surprise, colour and connections

Often crews such as these were out practising their skills -
I was told that each person rowing is a cancer survivor. Bravo!

. . . while at a quieter pace there was a preening Blue Heron

Great respect

On a small aircraft flight from Vancouver to Vancouver Island back in August, the views outside were not of the usual breath-taking kind, due to smoke-filled skies from the hundreds of wild fires then burning throughout British Columbia and California.
So, I took some images from inside the aircraft and, observing the complex instrument panels that face them each day, I respect and salute the thousands of pilots around the world who bring us safely to our destinations. Hats off to you!

Fish Tales

At the "tail end" of my 3 months in British Columbia, Canada,
I discovered this amazing aquarium at YVR (Vancouver International Airport).
What a wonderfully soothing way to bid farewell to my all-time favourite part of the world!

The Vancouver Aquarium, within Stanley Park, was also an amazing
experience, but more of that in a future post.

Dusk at Goose Spit

Goose Spit is a narrow coastal strip of land at the end of the Comox Harbour.
It is a popular area for a variety of activities - walking, kite sailing, beach barbecues in Summer and the steps (100?) satisfy the needs of those more athletic individuals.

Looking across to the Beaufort Ranges

This is one of the summer barbecue pits

Here are the steps for those wanting to keep fit!

. . . but I think the dog's expression says it all !  ("Are we there yet??")

Thank you, James, for hosting
and happy weekend to all

Mt Washington

A foggy day on Mt Washington - no chair lift ride today!

. . . so another visit to Paradise Meadows followed instead
(more pics to come on another day)

However, several weeks later, with no sign of fog, another trip to Mt Washington had the chair lift operational and the following views were ours to soak up . . .

This is one of the ponds in adjacent Paradise Meadows

Looking down at the Alpine Ski Resort

Is that a quill pen I see, coming from Heaven ?!

With thanks to Alan for hosting
and wishing you all a wonderful weekend

Adventures in Canada

Arrived home (Adelaide, South Australia) a few days ago, after another wonderful adventure on Vancouver Island, British Columbia in Canada - this time for an amazing 3 months.
Since it wasn't easy for me to post photos to my blog site, thought I would begin playing "catch up" now.
It was Summer when I arrived in Comox - 26C

Sunset from Goose Spit a narrow waterfront park at one end of Comox Harbour

 Comox Lake and Glacier

Entrance to nearby Lazo Marsh woods

One of several trails through the woods

 Another section of the trail

I continue to be fascinated by the erectness and height of the trees!

 Signage at the entrance

A pair of Bald Eagles adjacent to Lazo Beach

A pretty growth of Poppies on a property fronting the beach

I anticipate resuming regular blog posts again, so you too (hopefully) can share in the delights of Vancouver Island, BC

With appreciation to the faithful team who keep
up and running !
