Sweet surprise

While being shown around Biddulph Grange gardens by my house exchange hosts last year, I was delighted to not only see this charming little Robin on a nearby branch, but to capture it with my lens too!
(Am not sure whether I've posted this shot previously. If so, perhaps I can be forgiven as "he" really is such a sweetie!)

Just "chilling out" with friends

This mixed group of cattle breeds were just lazing around on a property near Congleton in Cheshire, UK during my visit there this time last year. (I couldn't help but smile at the "bad hair day" look of the highland cattle - or at least I think that's what breed they are!)

More Mylor Magic

This series of images was captured during my recent visit to Mylor . . .
. . . am thinking I need to revisit the area again with tripod at the ready and more time at my disposal, in order to do justice to the sweet birdlife that abounds there.

Linear Park

Out walking over Easter weekend, my lifelong friend and I enjoyed the beauty of Linear Park - a shared walk & bike trail that runs from the Adelaide foothills (following the River Torrens) to the coastline.

Lunar eclipse

Last Saturday night revealed the shortest lunar eclipse this century and our night skies displayed an astonishing "blood moon".  This astronomical event occurs when the sun, moon and Earth align, and the moon's colour is a result of sunlight scattering off Earth's atmosphere.

Despite clouds drifting by, I managed to capture these images.

. . . and the following shots were taken during my 20 minute observations

There will not be another total lunar eclipse (visible from earth) until 2018.

Wishful thinking

This pretty rowboat on the lake seemed to be inviting me to hop aboard and row out to the middle for a different perspective - but as I was a guest on the property of new friends for just a few hours it didn't seem appropriate to ask!

As can be seen from the glaring sunlight on the boat's interior, my visit coincided with "high noon" - not the best time of day for photographic purposes, but I did like the reflected hull in the water, so am posting the shot anyway!
