Colourful memories

During my 6-week revisit of the UK in 2009, I caught up with some dear people I'd not seen in some 40 years. They were able to show us some pretty areas (aren't they all ?!) around Fowey in Cornwall. We sat opposite this scene above one warm Summer's Day and couldn't help notice the variety of water craft - from rowboats, dinghys, fibreglass runabouts, clinker-built fishing boats, small cabin cruisers to the quieter yachts. The colourful bunting completed the picture.

Paris - the positive and negative of !

This perspective of the Eiffel Tower was (perhaps obviously!) taken from the River Seine during a 5-day visit to Paris in 2009.

And here's the same shot in a negative format.  (I think I prefer this one - it looks almost illuminated!)

Travelling locally

This is Adelaide City's railway station for metropolitan destinations. The terminal for interstate travel is located about 1.5 kms to the West of the City, where trains leave for Perth (Western Australia), Melbourne (Victoria) and Alice Springs (Northern Territory, on the famous "Ghan" train).

The central station also houses Adelaide's Casino and is adjacent to Parliament House, the distinctive Festival Theatre, and it backs on to the attractive River Torrens.

It's there . . in B&W !

I was surprised to notice, when reviewing my day's photos, that this shot appears to be almost Black & White!   Happy weekend to all.

A Day in the Country

Pre-Christmas I joined a number of friends at a BBQ in the Barossa Valley and these shots were taken on the property of the hosts.  (I am rather partial to trees and the colourful images provided by the varying colours of bark, so tend to get a bit carried away with these...... hope you'll forgive me!)

Tasmania - but wait, there's more !

Our hosts in Tasmania kindly drove us around Hobart and the surrounding area and I was delighted with the variety of housing styles: from the grand 2-storeyed red brick, the quaint white-washed cottages, the fresh-looking white weatherboards, and everywhere beautiful gardens, landscaping and stunning roses. Following is just a small selection of what we saw -

.... and I couldn't resist the shot on the left!
