Day brightener

Coming to terms with the passing of my dearest friend of 27 years last week, following a very long illness, I took myself off for a walk in Morialta Conservation Park yesterday afternoon

Wattle is also beginning to bloom, adding a special fragrance to the air

Was delighted to spot this fair sized Koala having a snooze on the ground - they are usually found in the fork of a gum tree.

Recently took a drive down to Cape Jervis, some 2.75 hrs' drive south, and was "rewarded" with some local wildlife ....

Praying for the good health and safety of my fellow bloggers.

Cudlee Creek

Just had a delightful encounter with all sorts of nature - birds, wildlife, dogs, flowers etc
during a weekend away at Cudlee Creek (don't you love the name?!) in the
Mt Lofty Ranges, so just have to share the experience with you all

This koala seemed to be having a lovely snooze . . .

until the wind came up and he decided it might be a good idea to hang on !

Breathtaking Lilac in the front garden and driveway ... mmmmh !

. . . and this is Trixie (one of 2 Kelpies sharing their home with me) - such beautiful natures.

A pretty array of flowers blooming on the property

. . . ditto . . .

The delightful laugh of the Kookaburra echoed around throughout my stay

At sunset this kangaroo appeared in the grassland opposite

. . . and this is Koko, the other Kelpie who took care of me !

Despite its name of "Patterson's Curse", the bloom on this thistle is very pretty
( obviously insects also find it fascinating!)

Banksia

One of several Ibis in the nearby fields

. . . and a budding Callistemon

Just growing along the roadside . .

Ditto !

"Just Joey" in the front garden

I hope you've enjoyed the outing.

Kangaroos in Suburbia !

Being keen to try out my newly acquired camera - a Nikon Coolpix P510 - I had literally only just begun my journey to a local wetlands area some 15 minutes' drive away from my home in suburbia, when I looked to a large area of open land adjacent to a main road into town and couldn't believe my eyes - there were several kangaroos grazing and lazing in the grass!!
This adjacent road has high volume traffic, it was 10:30 in the morning and we are talking about a residential region some 15-20kms from Adelaide's CBD on the northern side - I have never seen wildlife in this area before, so it was an absolute treat, and gave me an opportunity to try out the new tripod as well!  What a way to start the day!!

It looks like this 'roo has a baby joey in her pouch - another bonus!

They didn't seem at all perturbed by my presence

This one seemed to be hiding in the long grass.

Just have to post these on Camera Critters blog!
