Kaptivating Koalas !

This week I have had the pleasure of Koala spotting in the Mt Lofty Ranges (Adelaide Hills) with my visiting Canadian friends (of a house exchange 2 years ago).  Bill spotted this mother with baby . . .

. . . and here's junior up close - so-o-o cute!
(Lori subsequently captured on video Mother feeding junior who later climbed up onto Mama's back)

. . . this fellow (?) seemed pretty alert

Is it my imagination, or does this one have a quizzical expression?!

. . . while this one couldn't care less about our presence!

and finally another alert individual

We were all thrilled to spot these Koalas in their natural habitat throughout the Hills.

(Greatly saddened to learn of the tragic accident taking the lives of Tina - EG Camera Girl - and her husband. Her exquisite images and blogging presence will be sorely missed. Heartfelt prayers for her family and friends)

Beautiful creatures, and captures. Love the ones of the mother and baby Koalas, and you are right, in the 5th image, his look seems to say,... and what are you looking at!!!:)) Aren't they wonderful!

Koalas are wonderful and it's great to see them in their natural habitat. The last one really looks a bit grumpy ;-)

Valerie, hopping over from SWF. It's nice meeting you today! Oh goodness, koala bears in the wild! How cool is that?! What a fun treat this was for you! You did a marvelous job capturing Mama and Junior. I know when we visit the Great Smoky Mountains it's a real treat when we spot black bear. The occurrence is rare, but when we do manage a sighting it's thrilling. In recent years, we have had more opportunity to see elk and deer than anything else. Thanks for sharing such delightful pictures. Have a good weekend!

Good to see you are fulfilling your legal duty to show OS visitor our wildlife.

I too was shocked by the news this week - it's a strange feeling, feeling connected to people you have never even seen.

I was thoroughly enjoying this post with the great shots of the koalas but was saddened to read of the passing of Tina. As Stewart said, you do feel a connection.
