The Birds & the Bees!

I was woken this morning with much screeching of these Rainbow Lorikeets in my back yard, squabbling over the food supply provided by the palm tree there!
Those black dots are bees and I have to keep alert when letting my dog out, as (despite having been once bitten...) she hasn't yet learnt they're not good playmates!

(These colours haven't been enhanced - they are naturally this vivid)

I think its good that you told people this is how these birds really look! People would suspect a photoshop job other wise!

Nice picture.

Amazing colours! And the bird doesn't seem to mind those bees!

Wonderful shots of the Lorikeets Valerie, I have almost the exact same images from my own back garden, how lucky are we to have such colourful visitors!

You caught the colors perfect. We have them in our local zoo that you can feed. It's great that you have them wild in your backyard.

Great photo. I couldn't believe how colourful these birds are when I saw them in Aus. Their name says it all.

You may have a few more noisy mornings, but colourful ones with the palm providing quite an attraction. Lets hope you only have a few lorikeets at a time - so much more enjoyable that way.

Wow! What gorgeous birds...so busy among the fruits along with the bees. I had lorikeets land on me while feeding them nectar at an aviary at the San Antonio zoo, I think. They are such beautiful birds!
