Versailles, France

During a 5-day visit to France (in conjunction with a 6-week revisit to the UK with friends) in 2009, we toured the Palace of Versailles and its Gardens.
Both were breathtaking - in size, design and artistry. It was the residence of King Louis XIV prior to the French Revolution, when he returned to Paris.

Happy weekend all.

This is SO beautiful!! What a fantastic trip you must have had. I saw the Palace of Versailles and its gardens in December of 1968, 43 1/2 years ago, when I traveled from Ireland with 2 friends, from Dublin, Ireland, where I was spending my junior year of college abroad. Oh, those days when I was single and my pockets did jingle! What an adventure my life at 20-21 was!!

Pat: thanks for dropping by my blog. You and I were abroad at the same time - in Sept 1968 (at 21 yrs) I began a year's holiday based in Oxford, England. My fiance and I toured UK and Europe during that time. Have been greatly blessed to experience so much safe travelling over the years. Clearly your youthful experiences have also left happy memories! Thanks for sharing.
