During a 5-day visit to France (in conjunction with a 6-week revisit to the UK with friends) in 2009, we toured the Palace of Versailles and its Gardens.
Both were breathtaking - in size, design and artistry. It was the residence of King Louis XIV prior to the French Revolution, when he returned to Paris.

This is SO beautiful!! What a fantastic trip you must have had. I saw the Palace of Versailles and its gardens in December of 1968, 43 1/2 years ago, when I traveled from Ireland with 2 friends, from Dublin, Ireland, where I was spending my junior year of college abroad. Oh, those days when I was single and my pockets did jingle! What an adventure my life at 20-21 was!!
Pat: thanks for dropping by my blog. You and I were abroad at the same time - in Sept 1968 (at 21 yrs) I began a year's holiday based in Oxford, England. My fiance and I toured UK and Europe during that time. Have been greatly blessed to experience so much safe travelling over the years. Clearly your youthful experiences have also left happy memories!
