    Valerie, great sighting. Aren't they timid birds. They look similar to our Common Moorhens.

    I'm glad I enlarged it to get a good look at its head. Looks a lot like our moorhen so I bet they are related. :)

    Lovely water bird, interesting colours, now, he might be purple but could be sort or blue and greyish too.
