Nearby wetlands

These images were captured in wetlands some 10 minutes from my home . . . .

Aww - we're shy!

... hard to believe that two significant highways intersect near the left hand edge of this shot above!

A Cormorant "taking the pause that refreshes"

One of the pathways through this wetlands area

.. and here is a close-up of what I prefer to call "poor man's daffodils" (yes, quirky I know!), but which many consider a pest - they are Soursob weeds. Still, they do add a lovely splash of colour to the surroundings.

with thanks to the hosts

  1. It looks lovely and peaceful (despite the proximity of the roads).

  2. Your poor man's daffodils are lovely! I guess some plants are so common they get thought of as weeds. The cormorant looks quite different from the cormorants we have here.

  3. LadyFi and EG Camera Girl: many thanks for visiting my blog. EGCG: As far as I can tell, it is a Pied Cormorant. There are also Black-faced, Little Pied, Little Black and Great members of the Cormorant species in Australia.

  5. So beautiful! Looks like a lovely place to walk, and I love the yellow flowers, whatever name they attach to them.

  6. Nice pictures - shame that the Poor Mans Daffodils are not a native, then people would love them!
